Saylor Confident Bitcoin Will Surpass Gold’s Market Cap by 2035
Michael Saylor, Chairman of Strategy, has drawn market attention after stating that Bitcoin (BTC) will surpass gold’s market capitalization and become the most valuable asset in the world.
According to cryptocurrency media outlet The Crypto Basic on February 23 (local time), Saylor, a strong supporter of Bitcoin, declared that Bitcoin will fully overtake gold’s market value by 2035. In a recent interview, he emphasized that Bitcoin’s scarcity and digital nature overcome the limitations of gold as a traditional safe-haven asset and will reshape the hierarchy of the global asset market.
“Bitcoin is more than digital gold,” Saylor said, adding, “Bitcoin has perfectly solved the inconvenience of transportation, security costs, and physical constraints associated with gold.” He explained that with its capped supply of 21 million coins and liquidity that enables instant transfers anywhere in the world, Bitcoin is an optimal store of value in the age of inflation. “Bitcoin is better than gold,” he asserted, predicting that over time, the share of gold in wealthy investors’ portfolios will decline while Bitcoin’s allocation will surge explosively.
Based on this conviction, Strategy continues to accumulate Bitcoin and is moving toward holding approximately 750,000 BTC. Saylor noted that institutional investors beginning to enter the market through spot Bitcoin ETFs is only the beginning, forecasting that within the next decade, Bitcoin will become a foundational asset held by tens of millions of individuals and tens of thousands of corporations. He views the digital transformation of capital as an inevitable outcome, with Bitcoin at its core.
The global decline in fiat currency values and rising debt levels are also key factors strengthening Bitcoin’s position. Saylor mentioned that the time will come when nations adopt Bitcoin as a national reserve asset to protect their monetary sovereignty and secure financial stability. He argued that Bitcoin, free from political risk and equipped with a transparent supply system, is the only reliable alternative in an increasingly uncertain global economic environment.
For Bitcoin to surpass gold’s market capitalization of approximately $14 trillion, it would need to grow several dozen times from its current level. However, Saylor believes this is an achievable scenario considering its technological edge and the pace of market adoption. As massive capital flows shift from traditional physical assets to digitally based scarce assets, Bitcoin’s dominance is expected to become increasingly solidified. The validation of Bitcoin’s value represents not merely a price increase but the completion of a new financial paradigm.
