AI Coin Market Mixed as Bittensor Surges While Near and ICP See Limited Rebound

As the AI cryptocurrency market shows mixed trends overall, Bittensor (TAO) is attempting to reclaim the $200 level, emerging as a short-term market leader.

As of 7:15 a.m. on February 17, according to CoinGecko data, TAO was trading at $198.10, up 7.7% over the past 24 hours and 22.5% over the past seven days. Its market capitalization stood at $1.896 billion, with a 24-hour trading volume of $297.83 million. After rebounding from around $140 last week and briefly surpassing $200, expectations for a continued technical breakout are building.

Other tokens within the AI sector are showing mixed performance. Near Protocol (NEAR) traded at $1.06, posting gains of 1.5% over 24 hours and 2.7% over the past week, with a market capitalization of $1.367 billion. Internet Computer (ICP) stood at $2.42, down 1.1% over the week. Render (RENDER) rose 8.1% over seven days to $1.46, though its upward momentum remains limited compared to TAO.

Some tokens are experiencing short-term overheating. Pippin (PIPPIN) surged 151.1% over the past seven days to $0.6975, though it slipped 0.5% in the last 24 hours, suggesting a pause in momentum. Virtuals Protocol (VIRTUAL) rose 14.1% over the week to $0.6576, while Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (FET) gained 7.0% to $0.1741.

Technically, TAO is nearing a test of the upper boundary of a falling wedge pattern. Immediate support is identified around $190, with the possibility of revisiting the $140 range if it breaks below. Conversely, if TAO secures a breakout above $200, previous analysis suggesting a move toward the $290 range remains valid.

Amid an overall contraction in AI coin market capitalization, capital appears to be flowing selectively. Whether TAO, which has posted gains of over 20% in the past week, will lead a broader sector rebound or remain an isolated rally has emerged as a key market variable this week.
